Description
Please make sure you have visited BookStore on this website about the system requirements and the type of the book.
The book consists of 3 parts. Part I summarizes the essentials of 5G such as target services and performance goals, NR air interface, network architecture, virtualization and automation technologies, Network Slicing, and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC). Part II provides a refresher on 4G by discussing LTE network architecture, LTE air interface, operations such as Attach, CA, CoMP, VoLTE, LAA and eLAA, LTE-M and NB-IoT and ProSe, D2D, and V2X. Part III builds a comprehensive foundation for 5G. Both NSA NR (i.e., EN-DC/Option 3x) and SA NR (i.e., Option 2) are covered. The end-to-end concepts such as the 5G network architecture (both NG-RAN and 5GC/NGC), implementation of Network Slicing and MEC, security, and QoS are explained. The NR air interface is extensively discussed by considering the radio interface protocol stack, frame/slot structure, OFDM numerologies, massive MIMO and beamforming, carrier BWPs, coding techniques, physical signals and channels, and RRC states. The UE-core network interactions such as Registration and PDU Session Setup are illustrated. The UE-NG-RAN operations such as cell search, random access, RRC connection setup, downlink data transfer, uplink data transfer, and mobility management in connected, inactive, and idle states are discussed. Finally, a glimpse of Release 16 and beyond is given.
